BEBRAYAN, which translates to ‘family’ or ‘living together’ in Indonesian, is understood by us as living collectively or in groups. This spirit is what we embody in running the GEGERBOYO collective. We started this collective in 2017 with the common ground of viewing Javanese culture through a more contemporary and modern lens. BEBRAYAN is the spirit that drives us in GEGERBOYO. We consciously set aside time to gather together and draw collectively with a spirit of togetherness. The four works we create do not go through a sketching process beforehand; instead, they respond to each other. This is our experiment in understanding how to interact within a collective. BEBRAYAN atau dalam bahasa indonesia diartikan sebagai ‘berkeluarga’, lalu kami pahami sebagai hidup bersama atau hidup berkelompok. Semangat ini kami pakai dalam menjalankan kolektif GEGERBOYO. Kami memulai kolektif ini tahun 2017 dengan dasar mempunyai persamaan dalam hal melihat kebudayaan jawa dengan kacamata yang lebih kontemporer dan modern. BEBRAYAN inilah yang menjadi semangat kami untuk berkarya di GEGERBOYO. Kami akan secara sadar meluangkan waktu untuk berkumpul bersama dan melakukan drawing bersama dengan semangat kekeluargaan. 4 karya yang kita buat tidak melalui proses sket terlebih dahulu, melainkan saling merespon antara satu dengan yang lain. Ini adalah bentuk eksperimen kami dalam memahami cara berinteraksi didalam kolektif. Berbicara dengan gambar.
